COMMITTEE BACKGROUND
This historical WHAT IF committee is if the U.S won the War of 1812. In the War of 1812 the U.S aimed towards occupying the British colony up north, which would later become Canada in 1867 due to their inability to engage with Great Britain directly. The situation is somewhat similar for Great Britain. While they can engage the U.S they are busy warring against Napoleonic France for the control of Europe.
In this WHAT IF committee, Napoleonic France has been much harder to deal with. This results in Great Britain pulling resources, namely the Royal Navy, from North America, elsewhere. This gives the U.S the opportunity to control the Atlantic Coasts of North America. They are now calling for Great Britain to negotiate for the release of its colony. That being said, the U.S does not have full control over British North America. Upper and Lower Canada are not under American occupation. While American campaigns in the west have been chaotic and haphazard for both sides, leaving neither with the upper hand. Nonetheless, the U.S called for negotiations anyway. Now, American and British officials, alongside high ranking Canadian soldiers and Indigenous leaders and warriors, will have to navigate this new political and geographical environment, to either conclude the war, or continue fighting.
